On the 19th of December, the eighth Jule-lad makes his way down from the mountain. His name is Skyrgámur. His main trait is his love for the Icelandic skyr. He is described as a big bull, who would forcefully break the lid of the big barrels containing skyr in the old days. Having done that he would eat and eat until he could eat no more.
Just as these brothers arrive one by one they leave back home to the mountain one by one. The first one leaves on Christmas day and the last on the 6th of January. In fact, it is the idea of 13 days of Christmas that defines the number of Jule-lads since as we told in a previous post they have more siblings. The folktales from different parts of Iceland have some variety in the order and inclusion of different Jule-lads.
