As we continue learning about the Icelandic Jule-lads the next one to arrive is Hurðaskellir. He is the seventh to arrive and comes down amongst people on the 18th of December.
This one is the loudest of them all. His trait is to slam doors and he particularly loved it when the doors were squeaky.
The mischievous lads and their mother have a gruesome pet. This pet of theirs is no more likable than the mother. This creature is a large black cat that was said to eat any child that didn´t receive new clothes before Christmas.
Along with Grýla, the fearsome mother of the Jule-lads, this cat of theirs called Jólakötturinn was used to scare children into obedience.
